Ep. 22 Dorthea from Solista Carson by Cogir

Dorothea reflects on her rich and eventful life growing up in Yerington, Nevada during the 1940s and 50s, describing a tight-knit community where civic events, dances, and family values shaped her upbringing. She shares her early marriage to her childhood sweetheart, his tragic death from cancer, and her journey as a young widow raising children while returning to college in Reno. After remarrying and moving to California, Dorothea embraced a second act, earning a psychology degree and working as a child mental health specialist before once again becoming a widow. Embracing her passion for history, she became a docent at the Ventura County Museum and later wrote a deeply personal, unpublished memoir titled The Yerington Years, chronicling her early life. Now 91, Dorothea remains connected to her large family and cherishes her legacy, including the joy her memoir brings to younger generations.
