Hospice of the Valley treasures our military veteran patients and offers a special tribute visit to honor their service and sacrifice. Volunteers, who are military veterans themselves, come to the home and bestow a recognition pinning and keepsake flag to express gratitude. Memories are shared and any delayed trauma (PTSD) from wartime memories can be addressed by trained staff. Lin Sue Cooney speaks with two Hospice of the Valley volunteers who love being part of the agency’s Saluting Our Veterans program—meet Larry Petrowski and Rodney Dehmer.
